March Art Walk: BLUE

March Art Walk: BLUE

Friday, March 4th 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Jackson Hunt and Mariah Tate Klemens met through mutual friends in July 2015. It was immediately clear through studio visits, and discussions about art that the two wanted to participate in a shared exhibition. Blue functions as a collaborative project, both artists making work they likely would not have without the input of the other, exploring events from the summer of 2015 and earlier.

Blue reminds us of the life one could have had – an exploration of disappointment and the desire for growth. The work in Blue describes lives and objects, constantly in decay, commemorating nostalgia. Failure in the structure of objects and visual descriptions of lost potential are all displayed in the color blue. Collaborators Jackson Hunt and Mariah Tate Klemens explore blue with photorealistic paintings, cast objects, and live plants. Throughout the month of March, the work in Blue will literally grow and decay.

February Art Walk: Letters to Lines

February Art Walk

Make.Shift’s award winning gallery will feature the art exhibit Letters to Lines: young artists visually interpret lyrics & poetry during the month of February.

The Make.Shift gallery committee invited high school students in Whatcom County to submit their art work. The pieces were prompted to interpret song lyrics or poems and the students were not limited to any specific medium.

The Letters to Lines opening reception will be during Art Walk on Friday, February 5th, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Make.Shift. The show is on display at the Make.Shift gallery beginning February 2nd through February 27th. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
