Soaring and Boring and Fawning and Yawning by Derek Erdman + Ashley Armitage

BELLINGHAM, Washington — This April, Make.Shift Art Space will feature the exhibit Soaring and Boring and Fawning and Yawning from regional artist Derek Erdman and photographer Ashley Armitage.

Ashley Armitage is a photographer from Seattle. She curates an inclusive online gallery, Girlfriends, and co-runs the female-focused photo agency, Girls by Girls. Her work focuses on reclaiming representations of the female body not through a man’s fantasy, but through a girl gaze.

Derek Erdman is a painter from the Midwest currently living in Seattle. His work is typically absurdist outsider colorful images with an intent of mass accessibility. In addition to being a highly prolific painter and illustrator, Erdman is a noted prankster*, as well as the creator behind Rap Master Maurice, who for $17 will make a “revenge rap” phone call for you. Erdman is also the receptionist at the venerable Sub Pop record label.

Make.Shift studio artists will also open up their studios to share, sell and discuss their current and future projects. Also videos, music and concessions in the downstairs performance space.

The event is free and open to the public.
